Introduction
This article describes how to copy a scaffold bay to the Inner side avoiding duplicates.
Steps for Copying Bay to the Inner side
1.Enable precise visibility
- In SketchUp, go to View > Face Style > X-Ray to see internal geometry and snap targets through objects.
Tip: Snapping points are easier to identify when X-Ray is active. - Ensure the ScaffPlan Toolbar (contextual toolbar) is visible. If needed: Extensions > ScaffPlan > Enable ScaffPlan Toolbar.
2. Prepare the source bay
- Copy/Rotate the bay by pressing Q (Rotate) then Control (to trigger Copy/Rotate command) and Copy/Rotate the bay 180° so its orientation matches the inner run requirements.
- Press Space Bar to interrupt the rotate command.
3. Adjust bay-end configuration on the copy
- With the copied bay selected, click Open ScaffPlan Properties Dialogue on the ScaffPlan Toolbar.
- In the Scaffold Bay properties, set Bay Ends: End1 & End2 = Open without Inner standard and Inner Ledgers to None (set Inner and Inner Top guardrails to None if were set).
- Click Modify to apply the change to the selected bay.
4. Position the copy precisely using snapping points
- On the ScaffPlan Toolbar, click Display Snapping Points on the bay components.
- Use Move (M) and snap from a known point on the copied bay to the corresponding snapping point on the inner side of the source bay.
- Press Space Bar to interrupt the rotate command.
- Toggle Display Snapping Points off for clarity once the copy is in place.
