RFQ – Scaffolding for Car Park & Loading Dock Concrete Repairs
Hi Scaffolding Co,
We’re starting concrete repairs to the shopping centre car park and loading dock. We invite you to tender on this project to design, supply, install, maintain, and remove the scaffold. I’ve attached a 3D model of the work area for your use. Use it for take-offs, tie planning, stand-off, and bridging.
We will provide you with a 3D model (IFC Format) of the work area. You must submit a 3D scaffold design with your tender. 2D drawings will not be accepted.
Purpose
Safe access for investigation, breakout, steel treatment, patch repair, and coatings. Keep the centre operating and protect the public, tenants, vehicles, and our crew.
Locations
• West curved façade, Levels 1–5.
• North straight façade, Levels 1–5.
• Loading dock frontage and the vehicle entry bridge.
Confirm dimensions and tie-in locations with us during a site walk.
Users
Our repair crew, QA/inspection, and painters.
No public access.
Access Strategy
• Full-height perimeter scaffold to the elevations noted.
• Stair towers at each end with landings to each working level.
• Engineered bridge over the loading dock vehicle entry. No obstruction to the vehicle envelope.
Performance & Loading
• Medium duty 450 kg/m² to all working platforms.
• Minimum 1.0 m clear platform width.
• Minimum 0.5 m inside face brackets where required.
• Containment: toe boards and debris control. Provide sheeting if spraying is used.
You are responsible for ensuring all scaffold loads, ties, and reactions are compatible with the existing structure. Verify capacities of all fixings and bearing locations. Do not exceed allowable loads without written approval and revised engineering.
Interface & Protection
Keep pedestrian routes and dock operations open. Provide impact protection where vehicles pass near standards. Protect cladding, glazing, finishes, and services.
Ties, Foundations, and Geometry
• Foundations: design, verify, and provide foundations, sole boards, and bearing checks. Your responsibility.
• Ties: engineer the tie pattern. Use appropriate ties/anchors to structural elements. No fixing to fragile cladding.
• Stand-off: maintain a consistent distance from wall faces across all levels and nominate this in your design.
• Bridging: engineered beams/trusses over dock openings. Keep turning paths clear.
Standards, Design & Handover
Comply with all applicable local laws, regulations, and standards in the project jurisdiction. Provide engineer-signed designs for the overall scaffold, stairs, bridges/cantilevers, containment, and wind actions.
Provide method statements, erection schedule, inspection regime, tagging, and handover certificates for each stage and after any modification. Weekly inspections and after significant weather.
Staging & Program (baseline)
1. North elevation L1–L5
2. West curved elevation L1–L5
3. Loading dock frontage including bridge
4. Returns and removals
Please submit durations per stage, crew size, and erection rates. Working hours to suit centre trading.
Quality & Housekeeping
Keep platforms clear. No overloads. Use controlled drop zones if you propose chutes. Keep egress paths open.
Deliverables with Tender
• 3D scaffold design aligned to the attached model. Include bay sizes, platform widths, stand-off, stairs, bridges, foundations, and full wall tie and connection details (anchor types, capacities, test requirements, spacing).
• Engineering certificate and design assumptions including wind and load cases.
• Program with install/strike durations by stage.
• Pedestrian and vehicle protection plan at the dock.
• Method statements and inspection plan.
• Price schedule as below.
Price Schedule (submit in this format)
• Preliminaries and engineering – lump sum
• Perimeter scaffold North elevation – rate per vertical metre + lump sum
• Perimeter scaffold West curved elevation – rate per vertical metre + lump sum
• Stair towers – each, weekly hire
• Bridging over loading dock entry – engineered lump sum + weekly
• Containment sheeting – m² install + weekly
• Vehicle impact protection and goalposts – lump sum + weekly
• Variations – labour rates and after-hours factors
• Dismantle and removal – lump sum per stage
Exclusions
If excluded, clearly list items such as cranage, after-hours load-in, power, waste bins, traffic control, and containment materials.
