Variable-Length Multi-Bay Placement

From version 2026 ScaffPlan for Tekla supports Variable-Length Multi-Bay Placement.

The Variable-Length Multi-Bay Placement feature allows multiple Bays with different lengths to be inserted as a single continuous bay line. This is useful where the scaffold run cannot be completed using one bay size.

The bay length can be changed at any point during insertion without restarting the command. The active preview updates automatically, allowing the arrangement to be checked before the bays are placed.

Insert a Bay Line with Variable Lengths

To insert multiple bays with different lengths:

  1. Run the Bay Tool.
  2. Using Contextual toolbar disable Dynamic length and enable Multiple Bays placement by setting it to Yes.
  3. Select the required starting bay size from the Length drop-down menu.
  4. Pick the first point in the model to define the start of the bay line.
  5. Move the cursor along the required direction. A preview displays the number and arrangement of bays that will be inserted.
  6. Pick a point to confirm the first section of the bay line.
  7. Select a different value from the Length drop-down menu where another bay size is required.
  8. Continue moving the cursor and picking points to add further sections to the same bay line.
  9. Repeat the process as required until the complete scaffold run has been defined.
  10. Press the middle mouse button to complete the bay line.

The Bay tool then generated as a continuous scaffold run using the selected bay lengths.

Return to a Previous Section

While editing the bay line, press Backspace to return to the previous section of the run. This allows the length arrangement to be corrected without restarting the entire command.

Press Backspace again to continue stepping back through the previously defined sections where required.
