1. Purpose of the tool

ScaffPlan InterAct is a tool designed to streamline the process of reviewing and verifying scaffolding models. It provides users with a customizable table view, allowing them to efficiently inspect, select, and manage model elements.

With InterAct, users can:

  • View and filter scaffolding model data in an interactive table.
  • Select and highlight specific scaffolding components directly from the table.
  • Group and ungroup items to see summarized quantities, weights, and costs.
  • Copy table data to the clipboard in CSV format for easy reporting.
  • Customize the table layout by enabling or disabling specific columns.
  • Freeze and unfreeze data to control table updates dynamically.
  • Perform quick searches within the table to locate specific elements.

The intuitive interface, which can be docked or floated, ensures that users can work seamlessly within their modeling environment, enhancing both productivity and accuracy in scaffolding planning.

Known Limitations

While ScaffPlan InterAct offers a range of useful features, please be aware of the following limitations:

Compatibility: The tool only loads data for scaffolding items inserted within the current scaffolding system. Items from other systems will not be displayed.

Performance: For larger models, data loading and processing times may be slower.

Selection Constraints: When selecting grouped items, the entire group will be highlighted rather than individual components.

Clipboard Format: Data copied to the clipboard is exported in CSV format with semicolon delimiters, which may require manual adjustments for certain applications.

FUNCTIONALITY

The Data Grid

The data grid in ScaffPlan InterAct provides an interactive table displaying information about scaffolding components. It includes multiple columns such as:

Profile: The name or type of the scaffolding component.
Item type: A type of the component.
Qty (Quantity): The number of items available in the model.
Weight [kg]: The total weight of the items in kilograms.
Length [m]: The length of the component in meters.
Cost: The cost value assigned to the item.

Freeze

Unfreeze

The Freeze/Unfreeze function in ScaffPlan InterAct controls how data in the table updates when selecting items in the model.

How It Works:
When the Freeze button is enabled, the table locks the currently displayed data, preventing it from refreshing as the model selection changes. This allows users to analyze or manipulate a specific dataset without interference.
When the Freeze button is disabled, the table dynamically updates whenever a new selection is made in the model, ensuring it always reflects the latest selection.
Key Benefits:
Prevents unintended updates when reviewing specific scaffolding components.
Helps in comparing different selections without losing previous data.
Enhances data consistency when copying or exporting information.
This function is particularly useful when working with large scaffolding models, where frequent updates might slow down navigation.

Group

Ungroup

The Group/Ungroup function allows users to toggle between viewing individual scaffold components or summarizing them based on their profiles.

How It Works:
Ungrouped View:

Each row represents an individual scaffolding component.
Displays detailed information for each item, including quantity, weight, length, cost, and code.
Useful for analyzing individual elements within the model.
Grouped View:

Items are combined based on their profile type.
Numeric columns like Quantity, Weight, Length, and Cost are summed up.
If grouped items have varying values in a specific column (e.g., different lengths), the table displays "Varies" instead of a single value.
Helps in quickly assessing total quantities and weight for a particular scaffold type.
Key Benefits:
✔ Easier Data Analysis – Quickly see total material counts and weight.
✔ Better Organization – Reduces clutter when working with large scaffolding models.
✔ Flexible Selection – Users can still select grouped items, applying changes to the entire category.

This function enhances efficiency, making it easier to manage and verify scaffolding components at a higher level.

Select scaffold item in the model from the table

The Select Scaffold Item in the Model from the Table button allows users to highlight and locate scaffolding components in the 3D model directly from the data grid.

How It Works:
1. Click the Button:

Selecting a row in the table and clicking the button will highlight the corresponding scaffolding items in the model.
2. Selecting Multiple Items:

Hold the Shift key while clicking multiple rows to add all rows below to the selection in the model.

Hold down the Control key while clicking on a row to add one more row to the selection in the model.
3. Grouped vs. Ungrouped Selection:

  • Ungrouped Mode: Each individual item selected in the table will be highlighted separately in the model.
  • Grouped Mode: The entire group of items will be selected at once.

4. Continuous Selection Mode:

As long as the button remains pressed, the selection in the model updates dynamically based on the rows highlighted in the table (.
Key Benefits:
✔ Faster Navigation – Quickly locate and inspect scaffolding elements in the model.
✔ Efficient Editing – Modify or analyze selected items without manually searching in the 3D view.
✔ Improved Workflow – Easily switch between tabular data and the visual model.

This feature streamlines the verification process, ensuring accurate selection and management of scaffolding components.

Copy listed data to clipboard in the CSV format

The Copy Listed Data to Clipboard button allows users to quickly export selected table data in CSV (Comma-Separated Values) format for use in external applications like Excel or text editors.

How It Works:
Copy All rows:

Select the first row, hold down Shift key and select the last row. Press the button to copy the selected table to the clipboard.
Copy Selected Rows:

If specific rows are selected (use Shift or Control keys), only the data from those rows will be copied.
CSV Format:

  • Data is copied with columns separated by semicolons (;) instead of commas.
Includes all visible columns in the table.

Copying a Single Column:

Users can copy only the Profile Name column by selecting rows and pressing Ctrl + C instead of using the button.
Key Benefits:
This feature simplifies data extraction, making it easy to generate reports or perform further calculations outside of ScaffPlan InterAct.

Deselect

The Deselect Button allows users to clear all selected rows in the table and in the model, ensuring no items remain highlighted in the data grid or the model.

How It Works:
1. Click the Deselect Button

Instantly removes any row selections in the table.
Clears any highlighted scaffold elements in the model.
2. Useful for Large Selections

If multiple rows or groups are selected, clicking the button resets everything to a neutral state.
3. Does Not Affect Table Data

Deselecting items does not remove or modify data in the table—it only clears the current selection.
Key Benefits:
This function is particularly useful when switching between different tasks or preparing for a new selection within the scaffolding model.

Column Settings Dropdown

The Column Settings Dropdown allows users to customize the table view by selecting which columns to display. This helps streamline the data grid by focusing only on relevant information.

How It Works:
1. Open the Dropdown:

Click the "Select columns" button to view the list of available columns.
2. Enable or Disable Columns:

Checked boxes indicate columns that are currently displayed in the table.
Unchecked boxes hide those columns from view.

3. Customizing the View:

Users can toggle columns on or off based on their specific needs.
Helps declutter the table by removing unnecessary information.

Common Columns Available:

  • Item Type – Describes the scaffolding component.
  • Quantity (Qty) – Number of items in the selection.
  • Weight – Displays the weight of the items in kilograms.
  • Length – Shows the length of the component in meters.
  • Cost – Displays the cost value.
  • Code – Unique identifier for each component.
  • Additional Columns – Includes Mark, Position Number, Design Result, which can be enabled if needed.

Key Benefits:
This feature enhances flexibility, ensuring users can tailor the interface to their workflow preferences while working with scaffolding models.

Search in the table

The Search in the Table function allows users to quickly locate specific scaffolding components within the data grid by filtering visible columns based on a keyword or phrase.

How It Works:
1. Enter a Search Term:

Type a keyword (e.g., "Ledger" or "Guardrail") into the search box.
2. Automatic Filtering:

The table updates in real-time, displaying only the rows that contain the search term in any visible column.
Columns that are hidden using the Column Settings Dropdown will not be searched.
3. Dynamic Search Scope:

Works across all text-based data, including Profile, Item Type, Code, and other enabled columns.
4. Clearing the Search:

Delete the text in the search box to restore the full table view or press the cross button in the search box:

Key Benefits:
This feature is particularly useful when managing complex scaffolding models with numerous components, allowing users to focus on relevant data instantly.

The tool positioning

The Float and Attach function allows users to customize the placement of the InterAct side pane, making it more adaptable to different workflows.

How It Works:

1. Floating Mode:

Clicking Float detaches the InterAct pane from its default position.
The pane becomes a movable window that can be freely repositioned anywhere on the screen.
Useful for multi-monitor setups or when users need to see more of the model without obstruction.
2. Attaching Mode:

Users can reattach the panel to a fixed position within the interface by selecting:
Attach to right side – Docks the panel to the right side of the main window.
Attach to bottom – Places the panel at the bottom of the screen.

Totals

The Total Section is located at the bottom of the InterAct data grid and provides a summary of key numerical values across all listed items. This helps users quickly assess the overall quantities and measurements of scaffold components.

What It Displays:
The total section typically includes summed values for:

  • Quantity (Qty): The total number of scaffolding components.
  • Weight [kg]: The combined weight of all listed items.
  • Length [m]: The total length of all components (if applicable).
  • Cost: The total cost of the selected components (if cost data is available).

How to Use It:
The totals update dynamically as the user applies filters, groups items, or makes selections in the table.
